Lenovo Announces New 7-inch Android Tablets To Suit The Mobile Lifestyle of Filipinos

Series includes quad-core processor for speedy performance and Dolby pocket studio for first time users

MANILA, Philippines–September 5, 2013: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced a line-up of new seven-inch Android tablets, offering configurations and features that match consumer needs for ultra-portable tablets.

The range includes two new seven-inch A-series tablets, designed for optimal mobility while still packing a performance punch. The A1000 is ideal for first-time tablet buyers and features enhanced audio, while the A3000 offers quad-core processing for speedy performance whether for gaming or web-browsing.

A1000, Pocket Studio with Dolby®
The A1000 delivers an audio experience normally reserved for more expensive tablets in a seven-inch device. With Dolby Digital Plus integrated into the device and large, front-facing speakers that ensure the sound is directed at the users’ ears rather than the floor, the A1000 is perfect for music lovers and those seeking a “pocket studio” for either music or movies.

The A1000 runs Android Jelly Bean 4.1 on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and has on-board storage of 4GB (2.6 GB usable), extendable to 32GB with a micro-SD slot, as well as feature a GSM SIM support, so users can load content up and take it to the gym, the office or anywhere else they want to experience high-quality sights and sounds.

A3000, Full Performance in a Compact Package
In today’s connected world, devices must be mobile, without skimping on performance. The A3000 bristles with specifications typically found in a much larger device, all packed into a seven-inch form factor that is thin and light. Running Android Jelly Bean 4.2 on a 1.2GHz quad-core, MTK processor, the A3000 optimizes the user experience for games, video, photo-sharing and web-browsing, offering seamlessly fluid navigation and highly responsive performance.

Lenovo Mobile Access
All the new Android tablets come with Lenovo Mobile Access, a unique service that allows users to connect instantly “out of the box”. When customers first power up their Lenovo device, they will see an icon indicating Lenovo as their access provider. Without having to set up a special data plan, they can immediately start browsing web pages, accessing their email and sharing content with friends using HSPA+ 3G access or through Wi-Fi according to their specific configuration. When the initial Lenovo Mobile Access service expires users will be prompted with the option to easily renew their plan or select an alternative service.

The Lenovo A1000 and A3000 Android tablets will be available beginning September 2013 in Lenovo’s retail partners, MSI-ECS, Ingram Micro Asia Ltd. through its sub-distributor Net Essentials, and Open Communications, at Php6,499 and Php9,999, respectively.

New Caltex station opens in Bacolod City

Southeast Asia gears up for Green-City Drive

With new partnerships and greater content, BEX Asia 2013 is set to lend strong support to Asia’s green agenda

Manila, July 18, 2013– As part of the plan for sustainable development of its built environment, Singapore rolled out its second Green Building Masterplan in 2009, with focus on greening the large stock of existing buildings by 2030. Also, early this year, Singapore launched the Sustainable Blueprint under the Sustainable Singapore drive which aims to make the city a lively and livable one. This blueprint consists of strategies and initiatives needed for Singapore to achieve that goal and encourages individuals, companies and the government to all play their part.

At home, the government has also embarked on the Philippines Energy Efficiency Project (PEEP) under the Department of Energy (DOE). In partnership with Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC), DOE hopes to demonstrate the potential environmental benefits and financial savings through a series of energy efficiency efforts on commercial, residential and public projects.

PHILGBC has also recently introduced the revamped Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE), a national green building rating system that aims to help decision makers in the industry in designing, constructing and operating greener buildings.

“The PHILGBC was entrusted to carry, the National Voluntary Green Building Rating System for the Philippines, to provide for a recognition program, a green building rating system for the industry. We have upgraded the BERDE rating system with the Efficient Building Initiative of PEEP and came up with a more holistic program that is now becoming more responsive to different occupancy type and the different priorities we now have in the property sector,” said Mr. Christopher de la Cruz, CEO of PHILGBC.

As the region forges ahead with its green agenda, regional green shows like BEX Asia and its co-located events play an important role in providing the industry a platform to exchange ideas and technologies.

“[T]he development of the BERDE green building rating system for the Philippines, is harmonized with the work of other National Green Building Councils in the Asian region. As more eco-friendly buildings are built in Asia, use of natural resources are more efficient, green jobs are created, the shift to a greener economy is facilitated. We envision for Asia becoming the global hub for green building leadership, “ said Mr. de la Cruz.

Through events such as the International Green Building Conference and BEX Asia Build Eco Expo happening in Singapore this September, the latest updates on green initiatives, products, technology, and innovation will be showcased not only to build awareness but to inspire local professionals, companies, and industries to come together to exchange ideas, experience, and expertise in this advocacy. By integrating and complementing the initiatives and programmes of various organizations and sectors in the region, we come closer to achieving Sustainability” added Mr. de la Cruz.

Mr. de la Cruz will be sharing Philippine’s green efforts and ideals at the International Green Building Conference (IGBC) this year, an event held in conjunction with BEX Asia 2013.

The green movement cannot be looked upon as independent efforts by individual countries or entities, Singapore in particular, has repeatedly highlighted the importance of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) for its green-city drive to gain greater momentum. A city can only be considered truly green if infrastructure in the form of residential, industrial and commercial buildings all consciously incorporate green elements into design and functionality.

“Since 2009, BEX Asia has taken the lead to drive the industry’s green movement by providing a platform for regional interaction,” said Ms. Louise Chua, Project Director of Reed Exhibitions which organises BEX Asia.
