Alibaba Cloud was recognized for its critical cloud abilities of compute, storage, network and security on the newly released 2021 Gartner Solution Scorecard for Alibaba Cloud International IaaS & PaaS.
Among all evaluated international vendors in this market, the IaaS (infrastructure as a service) + PaaS (platform as a service) offerings of Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, were recognized with the 3rd highest overall solution score of 81 out of 100. Alibaba Cloud scored 86 percent in the Required criteria, 74 percent in the Preferred criteria and 58 percent in the Optional criteria in the 2021 scorecard, respectively.
The scorecard is a highly recognized industry valuation program and evaluates selected service providers that meet a defined set of criteria in nine categories, including computing, storage, network and security, across 270-point Solution Criteria.
This recognition marks the third consecutive year that Gartner has published a Solution Scorecard about Alibaba Cloud. The scores reflect the cloud computing company’s increased infrastructure and marketing presence outside China as well as differential global products.
“We are honored to be recognized in the Gartner Solution Scorecard for the third time. We consistently broaden our international offerings and infrastructure options, hoping to level the playing field or even prevail over other global players,” said Jeff Zhang, president of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our core IaaS+PaaS features and step up the rollout of new services and features in all regions with the aim of providing the best cloud experience to our customers worldwide.”
Alibaba Cloud has been strengthening its capabilities in computing, storage, network and security with 80 availability zones in 25 regions, serving millions of customers across the globe. The fourth generation of ApsaraCompute Shenlong Architecture unveiled in October 2021 carries leading capabilities in terms of container elasticity, storage, input/output (IO) performance, latency and chip-level security hardening features. It is equipped with the industry’s only large-scale Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA), which can reduce network latency to as low as 5 microseconds.
In terms of storage, Alibaba Cloud’s proprietary distributed storage system Pangu provides excellent scalability and automated load balance with extremely high data availability, which supports multiple types of Alibaba Cloud’s key storage services. The cloud computing company has also built Luoshen, an innovative cloud network architecture that provides products and services for various cloud network scenarios to support the deployment of millions of customers.
Owning more than 80 security and compliance accreditations worldwide, Alibaba Cloud also provides an array of security products, including DDoS protections, web application firewall, cloud security and business risk management for businesses worldwide.
