Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, was named a Visionary in 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Services (Magic Quadrant for CIPS). This is the first time Alibaba Cloud was recognized as a Visionary.
According to Gartner, the scope of the Magic Quadrant for CIPS includes Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and integrated Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings. The evaluation criteria cover a vendor’s ability to execute and the completeness of its vision. Under these criteria, the report analyzed a provider’s Product or Service, Market Responsiveness, Business Model and Innovation, among other metrics. Gartner further says visionaries have an ambitious vision of the future and are making significant investments in the development of unique technologies.

This is reinforced by its strong data analytics capabilities, which make the digital transformation process accessible to enterprises of all kinds.
Earlier this year, Alibaba Group was ranked third in the global Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) market and first in the Asia Pacific region for the third consecutive year in Gartner Market Share: IT Services, Worldwide 2020 report.
Alibaba Cloud was also named a Leader in 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Database Management Systems in November 2020.
