Caltex, marketed by Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), in partnership with the American Chamber Foundation Philippines (AmCham Foundation) held a relief effort in areas in Bohol affected by Super Typhoon Odette.

The donation is a result of the Biyaheng Pagtulong fuel promo held by Caltex earlier this year. Caltex’s network of retailers and marketers donated Php1 for every liter of fuel purchased.

Caltex and AmCham Foundation donated construction materials to 80 families in Bohol whose homes were badly damaged by the super typhoon. Caltex branded marketer partner in Bohol, JL Distribution System Inc., with the help of its partners and retailers, took charge of the distribution of the construction materials to families in the remote towns of Buenavista, San Miguel, Loboc, Corella, Maribojoc, Dauis, Tubigon and Tagbilaran.

“We’re more than happy to be part of this donation effort that Chevron and AmCham have conducted. It feels good to contribute and help our fellow Filipinos in Bohol get back on their feet,” said Manju Lim, vice president and operations manager of JL Distribution.

“Chevron Philippines remains committed to helping alleviate poverty and uplift the lives of the communities where we operate. We’re deeply grateful for our long-standing partnership with AmCham Foundation in helping us reach these affected families in hopes that our donation will help them recover and rise from this devastating experience,” said CPI Country Chairman Billy Liu.

Super Typhoon Odette made nine destructive landfalls in the country, affecting the Visayas and portions of Mindanao. Bohol was one of the heavily hit provinces with more than 200,000 families affected.
