Reaffirming its commitment to education and community support, Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI) partnered with the HS 67 Alumni Association to donate 20 refurbished laptops to Ateneo de Naga University (AdNU). CPI, marketer of Caltex fuel and lubricants, made the donation through AdNU’s Office of Student Affairs (OSA) Access E-Skwela project.

This initiative, which aims to assist students whose education was disrupted by the effects of Typhoon Kristine, is the latest in Chevron and AdNU’s partnership centered on supporting student learning. Chevron had in the past donated law school textbooks to the pioneering batch of law students, supporting their educational journey and helping to lay a strong foundation for their future legal careers.

At the height of COVID-19 in 2020, AdNU students struggled with the sudden shift to online classes. Those with financial difficulties could not afford to purchase the gadgets required for online learning.

Recognizing the challenges faced by students amid online classes, AdNU launched the Access E-Skwela Reboot project. The program provided students with gadgets for academic use to ensure uninterrupted learning. To supplement the university’s efforts, Chevron donated 30 laptops to the Access E-Skwela project.

In October 2024, Typhoon Kristine struck the Bicol region, causing the worst flooding in the area in 30 years. Many students, particularly those from low-income families or on scholarships, lost their devices to floodwaters.

Chevron once again stepped in to support the affected students by donating 20 laptops so they can attend virtual classes and complete their coursework.

“As part of our response, we at OSA reactivated the Access E-Skwela donation drive. We are deeply grateful to Chevron Philippines for their generous contribution of 20 laptops. This donation will significantly impact our students’ academic journeys,” said Rodolfo SB Virtus Jr., director of the AdNU’s OSA.

“I am deeply grateful to AdNU OSA, the donors and their partner Chevron for supporting initiatives such as Access E-Skwela. Their efforts kept me afloat during a difficult time, and I owe a part of who I am today to their unwavering commitment to students like me,” said Hadrian B. Botebara, a beneficiary of the AdNU OSA Access E-Skwela project.

“On behalf of Chevron Philippines, I am honored to turn over these laptops to Ateneo de Naga University. We trust that these laptops will serve as valuable tools supporting the university in its mission to make a meaningful impact on the students and faculty who will benefit from them,” said Raissa Bautista, CPI senior corporate affairs manager.

Chevron believes that education is a key factor in the economic growth and well-being of the communities where they operate. The company has invested in educational initiatives and partnerships to help communities prosper.
