Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. (CCBPI), the bottling arm of Coca-Cola in the Philippines, has signed a memorandum of agreement for the formal turnover of a baling machine to Dumaguete City.

“We thank Mayor Remollo for this opportunity to integrate our Tapon to Ipon program into the city’s environmental efforts. We look forward to our continued partnership with Dumaguete City as we underscore our shared commitment to sustainable waste management and take strides toward creating a fully circular economy,” says Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tañada, vice president for Corporate & Regulatory Affairs of CCBPI.

The year-long collaboration endeavors to collect and recycle all postconsumer clear PET plastic bottles from Dumaguete City, regardless of brand, through CCBPI’s Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo nationwide collection program.

All collected clear PET plastic bottles from the city will be brought to PETValue Philippines, the country’s state-of-the-art, bottle-to-bottle recycling facility to be given new lives. PETValue plays a crucial role in ensuring that postconsumer clear PET plastic bottles, with fully recyclable packaging, are turned into new food-grade recycled PET (rPET) bottles. The facility is a joint venture between CCBPI and Indorama Ventures, a global sustainable chemical company.

By fostering teamwork and forming strong partnerships, CCBPI encourages organizations to recognize their role in supporting local communities through coordinated efforts for sustainable waste management.
