Sowbug: Cyber Espionage Group Targets South American and Southeast Asian Governments

Group uses custom Felismus malware and has a particular interest in South American foreign policy.

Symantec has identified a previously unknown group called Sowbug that has been conducting highly targeted cyber attacks against organizations in South America and Southeast Asia and appears to be heavily focused on foreign policy institutions and diplomatic targets. Sowbug has been seen mounting classic espionage attacks by stealing documents from the organizations it infiltrates.

Chevron Joins Forces with Host Community in Coastal Cleanup for Endangered Olive-Ridley Sea Turtles

Employees of Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of Caltex fuels and lubricants, teamed up with over 200 townsfolk and local government officials of San Pascual, Batangas to fill more than 400 trash bags which amounted to 1.47 tons of rubbish during the coastal cleanup or day four of CPI’s annual Volunteer Week activity.

CPI, which maintains a terminal nearby, coincides the annual cleanup during the breeding season of the vulnerable Olive-Ridley sea turtles. Because of the coastal cleanup which started in 2007 and regular patrols of CPI security, turtle sightings along the beach have increased steadily over the years and CPI has notified the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (DENR-PAWB) which has officially declared the area an Olive-Ridley Sea Turtle Nesting Ground in 2014.

Chevron Reaches Out to Host Communities with Livelihood and Road Safety Programs During Week of Caring 2017

Employees of Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of Caltex fuels and lubricants, shed their office suits and shared their culture of safety and excellence with their host communities during the recent Week of Caring 2017.

Stay-at-home moms in Pasig, where several Caltex stations operate, learned how to run a home-based soap-making business. While grade school pupils of San Pascual Central School (SPCS), which is near the Chevron Batangas Terminal, learned how to stay safe along the town’s busy street as they go to and from school.

CPI, through its employee cooperative, provided starter kits to the moms and its employees helped prepare, measure, and mix the mothers’ first batch of dishwashing soaps and fabric conditioners. Chevron also provided training on marketing, sales and bookkeeping to help the trainees launch and sustain their new home-based business. MDPPA Joins FAMI Conference in Vietnam

MDPPA delegates to the FAMI Conference

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA) attended the conference of the Federation of Asian Motorcycle Industries (FAMI) in Hanoi, Vietnam last September.

The conference, hosted by the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), kicked off the 1st International Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (IMMA) Global Policy Workshop. Based on IMMA’s strategic plans, policies affecting the respective motorcycle industry of IMMA members were discussed, in particular road safety, mobility and urban access, sustainable motorcycle and development, economy and trade communications strategy, and electric vehicles.
