Hino Concept Vehicle Debuts at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show

Hino Motors Ltd., the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines, showcased various transport solutions demonstrating its vision of a sustainable future in its exhibition themed “Transporting Every Happiness” during the 46th Tokyo Motor Show 2019.

The FlatFormer, an innovative electric truck platform that can fit any body style or frame depending on the requirements, was the highlight of Hino’s exhibit during the 11-day international trade event, which happened at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan.

Chevron Undertakes Fuel Marking with BOC and SICPA SA-SGS Philippines

Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of the Caltex brand of top-quality fuels, lubricants and petroleum products, recently undertook live fuel marking at its import terminal in San Pascual, Batangas.

The fuel marking, held last November 11, 2019 and witnessed by officials from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and representatives from the company and fuel marker consortium, SICPA SA –SGS Philippines, made CPI the first among the Big 3 oil companies to comply with the government’s fuel marking requirement. This aims to curb oil smuggling in the country by placing a molecular marker on imported, manufactured and refined fuel products namely, gasoline, diesel, and kerosene.

“CPI supports the government’s initiative to curb fuel smuggling through this fuel marking program. We hope that  this program will level the playing field among the industry participants and ensure that all oil companies pay the correct taxes and help build the nation,” CPI Country Chairman Louie Zhang said.

Following the recent completion of the implementing rules and regulations for the FMP, gasoline, diesel and kerosene will be tested for compliance with the prescribed dilution level, whether at the refinery, terminal or retail sites.

SCG Shares Scholars’ Dream of a Better Future

A strong believer of the famous adage “The youth is the hope of the nation,” SCG continues to invest in Filipino students through its Sharing the Dream program. Knowing that the children of today will grow up to become the leaders of tomorrow, SCG through its scholarship program hopes to help the youth obtain a well-rounded education that will shape them into the competent and responsible professionals and citizens the country needs.

Since its launch in the Philippines in 2008, the Sharing the Dream program has been granting educational assistance to more than 2,000 high school students from Batangas, Bulacan, Taguig and Tondo as a way of giving back to the communities where SCG operates. In 2018, SCG Sharing the Dream extended its scholarship grants to college students, both current and incoming alike, to encourage more students to pursue a college degree. In partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), SCG screened applications and carefully selected 10 awardees who demonstrated academic distinction and the makings of an excellent leader.

This year, a new batch of college will start receiving Php25,000 worth of educational assistance yearly until they finish their chosen degree.

SCG Announces Operating Results for Q3 and 9 Months of 2019, Anticipates Growth in Cement Building Materials and Packaging Business in ASEAN

SCG’s Operating Results for Q3 2019 and the first nine months of 2019 showed a decline in profits compared to the same period last year. The Q3 results are primarily driven by the drop-in profitability in the Chemicals Business due to the existing low cycle and the global economic slowdown that was exacerbated by the trade war and the appreciation of Thai baht. Meanwhile, the Cement Building Materials Business reported an increase in profit with sales growth in the Distribution and Retail Businesses. Moreover, the Packaging Business has a significant potential growth, particularly in the ASEAN region.

Chevron Philippines Inc., marketer of Caltex fuels and lubricants, manifests its dedication to enabling human progress through its annual Volunteer Week, this year celebrating women and livelihood empowerment, education and career appreciation, and coastal sustainability.

Now on its 12th year, Chevron encourages its employees and business partners to volunteer their time and energy to work for the improvement of the communities where they operate, focusing on projects that positively impact the women, youth, marginalized sector and environment.

More than 300 Chevron employees, contractors, suppliers, Caltex retailers and other Chevron business units volunteered to help the less fortunate ones.
