Caltex, marketed by Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), bagged its third Anvil Award and second Silver at the 54th Anvil Awards organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP).
CPI received the recognition for its multi-awarded social good campaign, Caltex Fuel Your School (FYS), which won in the Public Relations Program on a Sustain Basis category under the Education subcategory. The campaign, which donated PHP 1 for every liter fueled up at participating Caltex stations during a two-month period, involved teachers, students and communities, who helped Caltex in promoting the campaign even on social media.
“We are extremely happy that the program was noticed yet again by PRSP and the Anvil Awards. We are humbled by the continued success of the FYS in helping STEM schools and students in more areas of the country, and this award is the icing on the cake,” CPI’s Policy, Government, and Public Affairs Manager Atty. Raissa Bautista said.
“We share this award with all the teachers, students and communities in Region 1 and CAR, and our branded marketer partner Northern Star Energy Corporation. Their belief in the program and enthusiastic support have been instrumental in the success of this year’s FYS efforts,” Bautista adds.
Caltex FYS 2018 drove all the way up north to help 30 of the highest-need public high schools in Region 1 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). The schools, which were carefully selected by the Department of Education, received Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) equipment with the help of the American Chamber Foundation Inc. (AmCham), which assisted in procuring the equipment.
With the support of branded marketer Northern Star Energy Corporation, Caltex FYS 2018 was able to raise PHP 3 million for teachers and their 51,248 students. The fund was used to purchase robotics apparatus, LED projectors, smart TVs, laptops, tablets, calculators, microscopes, lab equipment and other teaching tools to help make learning more interactive and interesting.
FYS is part of CPI’s Energy for Learning initiative, which aims to help local communities across the country by providing new information, developing new skills and encouraging different ways of thinking. The initiative started in 2015 and is expected to benefit more than 3,000 teachers and 1.21 million students in 118 public high schools in the next 6 years.
CPI, a three-time winner of the Anvil Awards, is a familiar name among Anvil Awards judges. The Anvil Award is awarded to outstanding public relations programs and tools after careful screening by select PR professionals and judging by a distinguished multisectoral jury.
