The COVID-19 pandemic caught us all off guard, forcing the world’s population to stay indoors for months now. Businesses and organizations have had to make quick adjustments to stay afloat. What Does the COVID-19 Outbreak Mean for the Philippines’ BPO Industry?

As much of the Philippines remains under ‘enhanced community quarantine’ due to Covid-19, the country’s vital business process outsourcing (BPO) industry has adjusted to new working practices and shifts in demand.

The strict lockdown measures implemented on the main island of Luzon will remain in place until at least April 30. At present, most of the island’s 57m residents are confined to their homes and local areas. Security personnel have stepped up monitoring to prevent people from travelling outside unless they are fulfilling an essential task or profession.

The PRemise: How Do We Communicate Through a Crisis?

In today’s plugged-in world, communication during a crisis has taken on a different degree of urgency, meaning and function, and so providing a peek into an organization’s strength or weakness. With the internet and social media fast-tracking the transfer and sharing of news and providing a platform by which people can articulate their opinion on most things, organizations big and small are finding it imperative to be able to respond quickly and appropriately lest they risk compromising their reputation and business.

A crisis can take many forms. It can be a result of natural causes such as those caused by an earthquake or similar other natural disasters.
